Dear Newcastle Elementary School District Families, Students, and Staff,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! I hope this message finds you refreshed and ready for the exciting journey ahead. As we open our doors once again, I am filled with immense pride and enthusiasm for the opportunities that lie before us.

Our district has a rich tradition of academic excellence, community involvement, and fostering a nurturing environment where every student can thrive. This year, we are committed to building upon these strengths and ensuring that every child receives the highest quality education in a safe and supportive setting.

Our dedicated team of educators and staff have been working tirelessly over the summer to prepare for the new school year. From updating our facilities to enhancing our curriculum, we are focused on creating an engaging and inclusive learning experience for all students. We have also implemented after-school bus tranportation for our students to help alieviate the traffic in and around our campus in the afternoons.

Parents and guardians, your partnership is invaluable to us. Our Parent-Teacher Club is instrumental in making sure our students and staff have the support to make our school community come together. We encourage you to stay involved and engaged in your child's education. Attend school events, participate in parent-teacher conferences, and stay connected with your child's teachers and school staff. Together, we can create a strong foundation for your child's success.

To our students, I want to extend a warm welcome back. Your curiosity, creativity, and resilience inspire us every day. Embrace the challenges and opportunities that this new school year brings, and remember that your efforts and dedication will lead to amazing achievements.

As we embark on this new academic year, let us remain committed to our shared vision of excellence, equity, and opportunity for all. I am confident that, with our collective efforts, this year will be filled with remarkable growth and memorable experiences.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Here's to a fantastic school year ahead!

Warm regards,

Sean Healy

Dear Newcastle Elementary School District Families

It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I write this letter of introduction to you as your new Superintendent.  I am truly honored to serve as Superintendent in a school district and community that values academic excellence.  Such commitment to excellence comes in part from Newcastle's strong community spirit, where citizens are proud of their youth and show great support for the school.  I am incredibly grateful to the Newcastle Board of Education for selecting me as your next Superintendent.  I look forward to getting to know the Newcastle community, our students, our families, and the team of professionals who work tirelessly to create a learning environment that supports each student.

I would like to tell you a little about myself.  I grew up in an area much like Newcastle and I am a product of a small, rural education system.  I grew up in the small lumber town of Weed, CA in Siskiyou County.  I feel my small-town roots have called me to Newcastle!  I received my Bachelor of Science degree and Science Teaching credential from UC Davis and started my career in education in 1997.  My wife, Julie, and I have 2 adult daughters - Caitlin and Adrianna.  Julie is a General Manager for a massive logistics operation in Fairfield.  Caitlin is a trainer for the Amazon distribution center in Sacramento.  Adrianna just graduated from Boise State University with her degree in Psychology and is working toward her teaching credential.

I am excited for the opportunity to bring my skills and experience to this amazing school district.  I know that the school is a centerpiece of a close-knit community and that the school is a source of pride and connection for all members of the community.  Children will receive the best educational opportunities when staff, students, parents, and community members are all working together.

This year marks my 27th year as an educator.  Until this year, I spent my entire career at Olympus Jr. High School in Roseville.  I have had the unique experience of being a teacher (Science), Assistant Principal, and Principal all at the same school.  To this day, teaching and working with students remains my greatest passion; however, I know that a district administrator can be of service to educators and serve the needs of many more students than I alone could do in the classroom or a single school.

As Superintendent, I will nurture a student-centered, positive, and safe district culture and maintain an educational program that is conducive to student learning and development.  I foster positive behavior, accountability, student and faculty teamwork, and cooperation in the school environment.  I will initiate and lead programs to provide clear, concise, and transparent information both internally to professional staff and externally to students and parents.  I encourage and welcome any questions, comments or concerns you have about our schools and can be reached directly as shealy@newcastle.k12.ca.us.

Yours in education,
Sean M. Healy
